I am an Everett native and have been teaching science for the past 32 years.  I’ve spent the last sixteen years working in the Everett Public Schools and am currently teaching 10th grade biology.  I graduated from Boston State College with a major in Regional Studies in 1976 and then earned a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Massachusetts.  I have had many opportunities to be part of Tri-City Technology Education Collaborative projects including creating and implementing six different high school PBUs.  I feel fortunate to have the chance to repeat this experience with the Voices Rising project.  I love to travel and will eagerly jump at any opportunity to experience a different culture or learn about a different region.  My favorite trips have been camping in the English countryside, hiking in the Spanish Pyrenees, and working in the Guatemala highlands.

I am currently a fifth grade teacher at the Lafayette School in Everett.  I earned both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Salem State College. During my eleven-year teaching career I have learned many teaching principles, techniques, strategies, and ideas that I use every year within my classroom.  I love coming to school every day knowing that I am part of my students’ learning process.  At the beginning of every school year I try to explain to my students that I am there to help guide them through their learning process.   Throughout the school year, I try to instill in my students the fact that they are responsible for what they will learn throughout their lives.  I try to make them realize that learning can be fun, no matter what the topic. I am looking forward to many more years teaching fifth grade and sharing new and exciting ideas with my future students.

I am currently a ninth grade United States History teacher at Everett High School. I am very passionate about American history and feel that as a first generation Italian-American I have an even deeper love and appreciation for the United States of America. I am committed to sharing my love of the U.S. with all of my students as well as the history of our country and the people who made it the nation we are today.

I earned my Bachelor's degree in history from Regis College and received an additional certificate of study from the American Studies Program. I later earned my M.Ed. in secondary education with a concentration in history at Framingham State College.

I feel that teaching is a life-long learning process and enjoy learning more about history as well as new teaching strategies and working collaboratively with the excellent history teachers at Everett High School.  I have enjoyed participating in the Voices Rising project and learning more about creating lessons integrating the use of technology in the classroom, as well as learning more about the early Industrial Revolution, the Lowell textile mills and the Lowell “Mill Girls.”
