I am currently a 5th grade teacher at the Parlin School in Everett. I have received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Endicott College, and I am in the process of obtaining my master's degree in Elementary Education from Cambridge College. It is extremely important to me to instill in my students a love for learning. I strive to teach my students the importance of having a quality education and how beneficial it can be for their futures. This is my third year teaching 5th grade in Everett, and I have already learned so much useful information that I can apply into my classroom. Since I am responsible for teaching the Social Studies curriculum to all my 5th grade students, I look forward to gaining knowledge in all the great materials, resources, and ideas that are available to teach United States history through my participation in the Voices Rising project.

I am currently a seventh grade social studies teacher at the George Keverian School in Everett. I am entering my fourth year, and I have really enjoyed my experiences as a teacher. I earned a bachelor's degree in History from Saint Anselm College and a Master's in Education/Social Studies from Lesley University. I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Administration from UMASS Boston.  I was drawn to the Voices Rising project because I am always interested in creating interesting and challenging history lessons for my students. I hope my experiences during this program will allow me to better assist all of the students in my classroom.

Elaine Walls Elaine Walls

Elaine has a B.A, in English from Boston State College. Early in her teaching career, Elaine taught in Beverly and Somerville High School. She has been teaching English in Everett for ten years. Prior to coming back to teaching, she worked at John Hancock for 18 years as an Agency Sales Manager conducting product training for agents around the country. She also served as the Senior Marketing Analyst for John Hancock Property and Casualty where she completed a full demographic analysis of their portfolio of business countrywide. This fit in nicely with her interest in the social sciences. Where people live and how they arrived there has always been a topic of interest of Elaine's.
